Interlibrary Loan

Did you know that if our Library does not have the materials you need that we will do our best to find them?

We belong to a consortium of libraries in northwest Illinois called PrairieCat. When you search our online catalog, you may choose to search just the Plainfield Public Library, several Plainfield area libraries or all the libraries in PrairieCat. Place holds on the materials you need, and they will arrive at our library usually in 3 to 5 business days.

If our consortium does not have the materials you need, please talk to our reference staff. We will be glad to contact libraries from across the country and locate the materials you need. We will first contact libraries that will lend to us for free and materials usually arrive within a week or two (sometimes a bit longer depending on the mail).

Prefer to search yourself? Checkout WorldCat.org. Search for items located in other libraries. When you find an item, enter Location Information of Plainfield, IL and then click the link to request the item. A request notice will be sent to our reference staff, and we will place the order for you. We contact you if we have any questions and notify you when the item arrives.
